New Member Introductions / Re: Keihin 069A carburettor question
« on: April 20, 2026, 07:19:07 PM »
As Oddjob pointed out the input manifolds are different for the pd and 069A carbs. Manifolds for the pd carbs do not have a holes (capped with screw) to allow vac synchronization. Also the spacings are slightly different. But I've used 627B carbs (which are basically same as 069s) on a K3 with the pd manifold and the 627b/069a rubber couplings coped and got them aligned OK. The said rubber couplings are different, pd ones shorter.

I thought soldier F was acquitted by the judge although he was scathing about the day. Is there another trial? All wars are have a lot of unsatisfactory events, but there was a truce and basically an amnesty so time to let sleeping dogs. Off to Ireland next moth to see relatives. At least our judges are not political appointments like the US.
Glad that it looks like you had a dry day and good turnout.

Then from Dave's options that says that it is likely not option 1) but likely option 2).

The bad news is they are available from Honda and DSS but are about £20!

I watched it and also thought it would make more. Saw a Sandcast that I think was only bid up to $15/$16k earlier that did not sell.

To bleed the brakes I always remove the top of the reservoir and rubber diaphragm and just pull the lever back quite small amounts a few times in fairly quick succession. BUT you have to be be gentle to ensure the fluid does not shoot out. The bubbles will appear. Turn the handle bars full lock the other way and keep repeating. I didn't get any success with just pulling the lever right back. But did have one that still had what I thought was too much movement and fitted another spare M/C to improve it.

Been using the Kawasaki chain for 9 years, but only about 6000 miles and all good. Recently built an engine using the best parts of two and I readily moved it on to that engine. It is used in much more powerful bikes right up to the late 90s, but they may have had a tensioner.

If this is now only starting when the clutch is pulled in I think there is a fault in the starter safety circuit. It is supposed to start if either the clutch is pulled in OR if it is in neutral. If the neutral light is working this means the neutral switch connection is probably good. There is a diode under the L side panel that could be U/s or a poor connection. Check LG/R wire....when it warms up a bit....maybe April.

Seems unobtainable even looking fpr barbs, adapters, what have you.
You could try buying a bigger fitting and a die. But a pain.

Jezza, I got mine from my BIL that he bought for his Z650. Can't find any listed anywhere exactly like it but found these on the bay that may do if you can get them sealed with an O ring.

The original 750/500 collar is available from DSS for a pricey £109 or from CMS a bit cheaper, but then extra for shipping if you want to go that way. Have you dismantled it and checked the parts? But as Bryan pointed out the collar is often worn.

If they are Busso I think there has been some reports on the US site of taking a bit off the downpipes on sets that came direct from Busso. I think James had a set.

Not familiar with the 400. Had to look it up, comes up as neutral switch. Is it spring loaded? They appear quite rare.

I've used Avon 100/90 x 19 and 110/90 x 18 on my main 500 for 5 years. Seem about right. Any smaller metric sizes are too small.
