Obviously I've seen Police Rotary engined Nortons, a bike famously raced by local lad Ron Haslam.
Never knew Suzuki built one until I read on old issue may 2003 of m/cycle Mechanics. The main gripe was it's poor fuel consumption.
I've never seen one, has anyone here ridden or owned one?

Firstly thanks for the good wishes from members here as I languish on my third day in what is a effectively a partial rebranding of A&E emergency services at Derby Royal Hospital.
I contacted 111 as I was suffering with quite severe bouts of shortness of breath following little or no exertion. I wanted to avoid hospital admission as Wendy is effectively house bound following her stroke in April.
There were no face to face appointments available at my GPs surgery.
The 111 call handler understood my situation, they were concerned about my symptoms so arranged for me to visit a department that is next door to the existing A&E entrance named Urgent Care Unit (UCU). 111 had contacted UCU I had to be there within an hour.
i was triaged on arrival where I joined a queue of about a hundred patients. After a 10 hour wait I had bloods taken plus an X-ray. The X-ray showed my breathing problems were linked to fluid retention affecting my lungs. There are few beds available most patients are sat in chairs in the long corridor.
I'm waiting for a bed to become available in the Medical Assesment Unit so I can have the fluid removed. I asked if I could go home and come back in the morning, yes I could but my place in the queue would be lost so I would have to wait for another 10 or so hours.
I was finally given.a bed yesterday morning at 7.00 am.At present Wendy is self funding the 24 hour care she needs until I am discharged.
I'm on day 3 of waiting in the Urgent Care Unit as there is no bed free in the Medical Assesment Unit.
The UCU is not a ward as such so no lockers or call buttons. Last time I looked at the patient information board there were 100 patients in the UCU down by around 20 from yesterday.
What I thought was a same day fix or an overnight admission has turned into waiting for a hospital bed.

I'm laid low at the moment with some new heart problems that has impacted heavily on my mobility.
As the TV is my main form of distraction I've started watching Highland Cops on iPlayer.
Aside from the policing stories the scenery of Sky, Shetlands and the Highlands is breathtaking.

Last Saturday 12th April 2025 my wife Wendy conducted two local weddings at Melbourne View and Amalfi White wedding venues, at one she performed the actual the ceremony, the other she was carring out the paperwork. Wendy has worked for the last 20 months or so as a part time Wedding Registrar for Derbyshire County Council. Wendy works out of the Ashbourne Office doing the odd wedding at the Registry Office. Most of her work is at grander venues such as Tissington Hall etc. She came home on the Saturday afternoon chuffed to bits but quite tired.
On Sunday morning 13th April 2025 I found Wendy unconscious on our bedroom floor in distressing surroundings. I realised within a minute that she had suffered a serious stroke in the night possibly as she was getting out of bed as she felt sick. Ambulance Service attended within 5 minutes, on the stroke ward in around 30 minutes. Brilliant service from the NHS. Too late for the Clot Buster Drugs option.
Its a left side (of her brain) Ischemic stroke, presently unable to speak no right side body movement, currently tube fed but now classed as stable. As some members will know from experience the route to Stroke recovery is a different journey for all victims with a variety of outcomes. My late father had a stroke when he was in his early 50's so I have some experience of what to expect.
Her condition has been up and down these last 7 days, this morning she was a tad brighter. I know some members here have lost their partners or are dealing with serious personal health issues. As a fairly open person I felt today was the right time to share, yesterday was too soon, tommorow might be too late. I'm hoping for the best possible long term outcome, planning for the worst.
I am a sohc member known as Ted, known to some members in person, to others only through this brilliant site.
Life eh, sometimes it can come up with the unexpected.

I was thinking of fitting Black & Silver plates on my Superdream that is Historic for Taxation purposes. Looks like it's not road legal to do that as it was first rgistered in August 1980, not a biggie my 400 has reflective plates. My Superdream rear wheel drive sprocket does not have the original chain guard attached.
The existing chain & sprockets have only done 725 miles since 2017, I'm not worried about the originality aspect purely safety.
Aftermarket rear sprockets with a chain guard are available for around £20, is it sensible to change the rear sprocket?

Before the frame was powder coated I removed the steering lock.
The rivet & washer came out relatively easily, the lock has clearly been replaced judging by it's as new condition.
I have had no issue on the 400 re-fitting the lock. I have the correct replacement washer & rivet, it will not however fit as it should. Rivet is 4.1mm in the manual.
The rivet is not a tight fit in the frame, my understanding is that when the rivet touches the end of the hole, it opens out when struck on the head splaying outwards to hold in place.
My thoughts are that it has possibly been drilled out in the past so the hole is possibly deeper than standard?
Any suggestions as to how I can now fit the lock?

At the risk of sounding really stupid I'm having trouble getting my head around basic front fork design.
I understand the fork spring, also the damper rod that the fork oil operates in.
What stops the lower leg from falling out of the fork sliders?
