Hi and welcome to the forum Dr’ I have the same bike I restored last year. That is more like the colour I was hoping to achieve but decided the paint I had bought was too dark, so like the colour. Just post up a pic of mine.

I share your sentiments as probably most of us do. I don’t think I will do another restoration, which is what I also enjoy doing but being retired I will always be tinkering around. (Probably don’t have room either)😳 Even “needs tidying” grows financial tenticals!😂

That’s interesting Bryan. Acquired a low mileage Mk2 Escort in the mid eighties that belonged to my wife’s grandad. He had lost his confidence to drive so gave us the car as we had sold ours to raise funds for major roof repairs. His max was about 40mph and that was on a major road on a good day. We set off on the ferry and drove to Aberdeen which is 200 plus miles, we had to keep stopping and let it cool down as it was overheating.😡 It was fine on the way back. 😂. It was a pig to start on a damp morning.

I might be wrong, (has been known) but someone on here has already tried a repair by making the small plastic cone shaped bit with limited success. Maybe depends on how good the 3d printer is perhaps. Sorry can’t remember who it was.interested to see if someone had success in this area. Could certainly sell them.😜

Unfortunately missed the great banana give away.😂 I believe if you wanted a box you could just turn up and get one. While stocks last! 😜 Because of a dispute with a neighbouring farmer the local authority couldn’t get extending there quarry in time. They actually ran out of stone!!😳  Someone thought it a good idea to import a few hundred thousand tonnes. Except the crushed stone that was imported was a type of granite and quite uniform in size and shape. Absolutely hopeless for bottoming wouldn’t compact and just kept moving. There was a local private run quarry that is still reaping the benefits of that monumental FU!

Why buy one when you can buy three? Interesting projects there! That’s a interesting front end set up on that tourer.

If it’s a 550 then the nuts top nuts are available in polished stainless steel Johnny. No more rust.
Ooo shiny! Didn’t realise that Ken, will have a look.

Just had a phone call from Marc at Brook Suspension who have recieved my fork stanchions, the price had increased by another £100, taking it up to £320! He said they have been checked for straightness and they are both bent. £50 each to straighten. Cant argue needs must. ( I have sneakily attached top nuts/bungs which he didn’t mention I’ll see if they get done as well. I know Phillpotts were quite good at doing them at no extra charge, just ain’t going to get them done for a couple of hundred any more.

Hi Robin and welcome to the forum. Nice bike indeed, admiring the rear shocks as well as other nice features. What am I seeing behind the cylinders? Not quite making it out in the photo.
