Title: cb250/350 k clutch adjuster/lifter
Post by: florence on April 27, 2016, 07:18:56 PM
My CB350 clutch adjuster is so worn it will not lift the clutch enough to stop it dragging and replacements are almost impossible to find or very expensive.  Is this part fitted to any other bike or has anyone successfully modified one to make it work when very worn?

This is probably a question for Ash?

Do you mean this:

Your best bet is a low miler one from a DK import CL350. I think the CB360 /250 is the same part too.

Sorry but I don't have a spare one.

As Ash says, if this is the part you need it is also used on the CB250/360 G5 (CB360G in the US) and CJ250/360T.
If DK can't oblige here is a S/H one from the US:

thanks for that chaps.

This leads me to ask about buying parts from abroad.  I've never done it; is it difficult, import duty etc. or do ebay make it painless?  I always feel too nervous to take the plunge..

The key to it is to try to find a private buyer in the US that will describe is a a gift on the   or put the value down as 15 quid or less. Of find somebody who is in the US to act as a 'go-between' and do that. Or of course find the part sub 15 quid, which, in this case, is perfectly feasible. The CB/CL 350K was the biggest selling bike in the USA I believe and that part never changed from the SS (K0) to the G5.I don't actually remember that part wearing out on any of the models I had, back in the day but the push-rod lead a hard life and is often badly corroded or bent, due to its location near the chain drive.

Thanks for that, it's such a pain, I might try stripping it again.  It was always a pain.  When it got hot in traffic the clutch would always start dragging and I would have to switch off the engine to get it into neutral.

Had lots of parts from US as long as price below the 15 no duty, I am told that if the item is listed as "Warrantee Spares" there is also no duty but haven't tried that, I have always had great service from Western Hills Honda

If you want to read the details they are here:
https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty
Basically as Bryan says if the total value is below £15 (or £34 for a gift) there is no duty to pay, but the 'total value' includes delivery charges.
In the past I have had higher value stuff come through without charges, but I have also had to pay on low value stuff.
You don't just have to pay the duty charge, there is also a 'handling charge' so it can mount up.
I don't know how much is 'luck of the draw' or whether they have become more diligent in their checking.

Not sure if Western Hills Honda's old parts have been bought out by CMSNL Bryan
