..having fitted a lovely shiny front mudguard (the old one had serious holes) the front wheel now looks really crap. Before, when the whole front end was crappy, it was fine.
Now I either have to clean up the rest of the bike, shudders, or have to distress the new mudguard ;D

Go on Florence, shock us all and buy a tube of Solvol, then show us before and after pics of what it can do!

Take the bike up a farm track, the chrome will all be coated in dust or muck and be evened out, maybe bung a bit of light oil over the offending brightwork and it will appear dull fairly quickly. Failing that if really bothered I have some solid guards where the chrome is pitted but the metal solid I think. It doesn't bother me either way if bits of chrome look better on one bit of the bike to others, time soon blends the two to look right, or did on my bike, I used to try to give it a good wash and wax weekly and it was surprising how the rusty looking stuff brightened up and the bright stuff suffered over winter despite my efforts.

I suppose I just need a shiny front wheel and drop bars, then I could sell it as a 'cafe racer', would probably fetch a small fortune on ebay.. :D
