As the heading says....is there anything I can fit to my bike like some sort of supercharger so my kick start will work on every kick? I know it sounds a bit mental, but there sould be some sort of solution.....
-
Nope, just get the service items right
-
Standard and set up right mine used to start 1st kick or if you even breathed on the starter button. Sadly I've never got it running that well again, but as Brian says, get the basics right and it should start first kick. Someone in the usa did supercharge a 500/4 and the write up is in the brooklands gold portfolio book. A healthy battery and points set right is a good start.

it could also be your technique ;), cheers Mick.

My 550 starts on the kick with no probs.
-
Im sure my technique is the major problem here thanks Mick. What else should I be looking at to make sure of an easier time of it though? i put a brand new battery in and plugs. Matthew Im in Acton west london. What should I look at to make the kick easier?

Too far for me to pop over and offer in person advice or drool over your bike then, techniqe wise I seem to recall one of my 550's used to only start with about 1/4 throttle or slightly less and choke if kick starting (totally stock), the 500 would strart with no trottle and choke only needed in cold weather- As I recall the 500 was wearing a k&n filter but standard air mixing chamber plus loud (triumph rocket 3 raygun) exhaust. It never ever started as well on it's standard set up.

Hi Domski.
Is that Gavin's bobber in your avatar? I know he was selling it...
-
Hi Steve,
Yes it is. How well do you know the bike? I've just been way for a while so sorry for the delay in answering.
-
As Gavin lives in SE London (my kids live in Greenwich & Lewisham), I had an outstanding promise to meet up for a coffee and chat. Didn't happen though and now he's sold it.
Never saw it in person.
Acton isn't too far (I'm in Wokingham)

Well you're always welcome to come and see it in person. Would be my pleasure.
