My old tin of Nitromores circa 1995 has almost run out. Found this on e-bay but I don't believe all I read.

What's the best old school alternative?

Paramose is the closest I have found to original Nitromors as it contains the same main active ingredients ... i.e. Methylene Chloride (Di-chloro Methane) and Formic acid (you know .. the stuff in ant bites). Nasty stuff but proper paint stripper. They make a thick and a thin version ... both seem to work fine...same strength just that one has a thickening agent in it so it doesn't run off the surface so easily after application.

I recently used Power Strip Heavy Duty Paint Stripper. It's just as good as the old style Nitromors.

+1 for Synstrip. It's nasty nasty stuff though. It Contains: Methylene Chloride (Dichloromethane - DCM) Methanol Phenol Formic Acid Acetic Acid and is only supposed to be used in industrial environments.
Which means it must be good.

Thanks for the suggestions folks.
The Dichloromethane sounds a nasty ingredient so I will need to heed the warnings not just about corrosion on skin but the fumes sounds quite damaging if inhaled !

I second this stuff but use gloves and a mask. P.s. don't go near plastic with it ;)

I'll second Powerstrip, used it for two restorations, strong stuff.
