Title: Rotting Rubbers....
Post by: Athame57 on June 09, 2021, 10:30:06 PM
A couple of years ago I bought new airbox-to-carburetor rubbers because the old ones had gotten so hard they were hell to fit. But today I discover the replacement from DSS were full of cracks around the lips so to speak, any ideas at preventing this or getting better items?

I had the same problem with a "new" after market battery strap useless at only 3 months old and never left the garage, found a genuine honda one instead.

I'm on my second new one as well, do they get these things from China?

It's not just Honda's that are affect by cheap and nasty pattern rubber parts. I've had two sets of inlet rubbers for my TR6 Triumph engine that cracked all over in less then 18 months and the same with inlet rubbers for my 350 Morini that completely split after a year.

Could this be an effect of ethanol in our petrol?
