Hi,
I had my carbs rebuilt a couple of months ago but they've developed a fault. I have a CB500 K1, on first starting it wont tick over on or off choke without being revved. Once warm it runs fine and ticks over happily at 1500rpm but as you continue to ride it the idle tick over increases up to 3000rpm and has to be adjusted down.

Normal, you should set the tockover to about 1150 when HOT and hang the slide when cold
NB THE CHOKE DOES NOT INCREASE THE TICKOVER LIKE ON A CAR

check the pipes heat up evenly, when mine did this it was a blocked pilot.

Hi Bryanj,
What do you mean when you say hang the slide when cold.
Cheers, Andy

Hold the throttle open a bit or "hang the carb slide on the cable", comes from Brit days

Having owned a 550F1 as well as the K3 & F2, I found that the F models needed a bit of help when on choke as Brian has said...but the K3 had a cam arrangement on the carbs that when the remote choke cable was operated it lifted the slides slightly so that there was a faster tickover when on full choke...useful while pulling your gloves on. But the 'F' models didn't have this choke cam...& neither did the 500K models.

Thanks for that Bryanj
