Title: CB500 K 1 rear mudguard - new pattern ones.
Post by: McCabe-Thiele (Ted) on November 25, 2022, 07:19:07 PM
Spotted these on e-bay  aside from the postage I suspect Vietnamese Chrome might be of questionable quality.

The shop shows 550 ones as well.

I’m pretty sure one of the main contributors to this forum bought one of those….just can’t recall who.

Aren't they the wrong holes for a UK spec one ?

They do a proper 4 hole guard as well, must be available on it's own but maybe not listed yet.

TBH Ted the chrome looks ok but the standard of workmanship leaves something to be desired. Spot welds on all the braces, whereas the Honda OE guard is seam welded with small gaps. I'd imagine they'd rust very quickly as the braces are just water traps.

It was me Ted, I bought the 4 hole type. General good quality, chrome and shape but without modification, it sat too low at the rear end (looked tipped down) - from memory, I had to enlarge the main mounting holes to allow the rear to sit higher. Do'able mod that didn't abuse the guard too much.

Food for thought although I do not have the number plate holder as mine is a US mudguard.

I asked them for dimensions a couple of seeks ago and still no answer, doesnt fill me with much vigour if I'm honest. I dont care how long it is just how wide.

Cheap as Chips I was almost minded to buy one at that price - that said I have some odd buys on my shelf that I never fitted including an LED rear lamp for my 400 that looked as though it might fit.
