Sorry for being a dufuss but the manual says 3rd notch on the needle in the carbs, but is that third from the top or third from the bottom ??? ???
-
They are usually in a set of five, with centre notch being #3 whichever way they're counted.

I bought a set of aftermarket carb referb kits and the needles have 4 notches :-[, going to drop the needle by one notch as it's clearly running to rich. Guess we'll see if that works! I have also ordered a set of referb kit's from David Silver, so I might even change the needles over to these as they will probably be closer to OEM spec. Thanks for answering

Agree, its a suck it and see situation.
At least it should give you a new reference from which you can work and form more experience, then to judge if it's effective.
Welcome to the forum too :)

All the aftermarket needles are reported as being tapered different from oe

Clean up and use the OEM brassware. Aftermarket brassware is notorious for being pretty rubbish.

I've sent you a PM. Ted

Needle slots are numbered from the top down, so No1 is the very first or top slot. Any reference to a slot is not how many from the top or bottom but the actual slot number, unless of course they do stipulate 3rd from the top etc. If they just say slot 2 then it would also be second from the top.
