Hi all, does the CB500 four have a main stand stop? I have tried to look at the drawings and cant see one? the problem is the main stand is rubbing on the chain? nowhere near running yet, but want to sort some of the basics. thank you in advance. John

The original stop was on the original exhaust. You will have to make a bracket up with a rubber stop for a non standard exhaust.

Thanks Julie, at present it does not have an exhaust, will need to get one once I know it runs and no real issues :-)
thank you for your help and reply.... any ideas on best exhaust system? DS or other??

Best exhaust for the 500 is the original 4 into 4 but that may be unsuitable for the type of bike your building.
Next best is a Yoshimura system but good luck finding one of those.
After that it comes down to personal choice, the Delkevic gets good reviews and it's stainless I believe, Motad are no longer produced but they are still around second hand.

Thanks Odd job, will do some looking around, but doubt I will see an original anywhere soon :-) .. DSS do a replica 4 into 4, but not sure if its the best option as there are a couple of others out there, could all be from the same source?

They are, original is just about unobtainium now, just the pattern ones, supposedly made by the same people who made Hondas.

If going original, and as Bryan says original genuine Honda ones are very rare in good condition, then see if you can find genuine hanger brackets, DS sells copies but they are not bent in the right shape and it causes misalignments when fitting the exhausts. You can find the brackets on Ebay, you may pay a little more but they are better.
I have a set of the copy exhausts waiting to be fitted, TBH I think they are better than the originals, mainly because the originals weren't chromed on the back, just on the outside that you see, they were just dull silver and they started to rust through that far quicker than the chrome side.
DS used to sell the exhausts separately, which could have been handy as I have 2 original exhausts in nice condition which I may sell soon. Both left hand side ones, No1 and No2 cylinders.
