Hi all - can someone give me an idea if the front caliper swinging bracket was originally painted or polished/lacquered please
75 CB400F (UK)
Many Thanks - Bruce

I'm pretty sure that they weren't painted. All the brackets I've had were bare alloy, just polished.

The arm itself is polished metal, the other bits of the calliper proper were painted black. Here is a showroom example, I've never come across a black painted painted calliper arm myself, but I was one of those people who had to strip dirty silver paint from my own and polish it back up.

Thank you both - it’s what I thought but just needed to have it confirmed!

Thanks for that “trigger†- not her query though please!
Should the disc centre be black or left unpainted - your picture seems to suggest unpainted which is the way my current one is although all other pictures I’ve seen show it to be black!

Sorry, The picture i showed you is a 500 caliper which is the same caliper as the 400.
Someone will answer the disc question soon as i do not have a 400 here at the moment ;)

Yes, painted on the 400/4.
The pic that Trigger posted is my 500 but, as usual she's so dirty you can't see that the disc centre is painted 😂😂😂😂

Thank you both - all cleaned up now & ready to powder coat!
