Some EU spec models have the snorkel type fitted Ash.

Always assumed it would be plastic not metal.

It's metal and it is on all CB500 models on the European continent, except France. It always is in combination with the 649A carbs that had the #78 main jets. Most likely it was to meet intake noise demands in Germany. Performance of these models is as good as of the models with the gaze net and 627B carbs.
