Probably my last visit for a long while. Best of luck with the forum and many thanks to all those who have helped me with my 550F2 restoration.
I’ve attached my plans for the forthcoming 6 months. If you feel you can support UNiCEF it would be gratefully received.
Best regards
Phil

Hey Laverda Dave….many thank for the donation.👍 And yes, I’ll do that. Least I can do.
-
Big respect to you fella........frightens me to death just the thought of being out on that big ocean in a small boat !
A workmate of number one Daughter did the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge (Rowing) some years ago.........fantastic achievement with a crew of 4 rowing across the Atlantic. He still does presentations about his trip to Schools around Bolton and he's still raising big bucks for the various Kids Organisations that he supports. Top, top bloke in my view.
We were able to track his boats progress and how the other boats were doing every day so maybe the sohc Members will be able to do the same with your boat........give us some details of how we might follow your exploits and I'm sure you'll get some extra dosh from us 'armchair warriors'....I'll certainly chip in.
Lastly.......I wish the best of luck to you - and ALL the participants.

Thanks MCTID.

It looks challenging. We went on her boat when it docked in Derry.
It'll be a fantastic experience. 👍

They are just amazing, I'd love to go back but considering it was our trip of a lifetime it may be a while before we do!
Keep the photos coming to chear us up during the dark winter monthsâ„ï¸

I wonder why Phils boat is the only one missing the blue part of the Clipper decal, I'm betting Phil was steering and hit an iceberg or something ;D ;D ;D ;D

Qingdao currently 4 th or 10th I do not understand the results ??

They came fourth in the last leg and lie 10th overall in the total race.
Looking at the crew roster it looks like there are 65 people on board but of course a boat that size couldn’t accommodate that many I’d imagine so it looks like they rotate the crew with some of the crew only doing 1 leg and then going home, whereas Phil seems to have signed on for 3 legs and misses the next leg before joining again for his last leg, leg 8. A few of the crew have signed on for the full race.

That's right. IIRC each boat has 12 crew on each leg.
-
Yet, if you count crew members in the pics of the boats you can see between 16-20 of them on deck, unless these pics were taken on training exercises of course, before the actual race.
-
We won the Australia to Vietnam race…..around 5000NM.
Next race is Vietnam to Zhuhai in China.
We have a crew of around 17 working 4 or 8 hour shifts. Eg approximately 8 persons on deck, the rest sleeping or doing other chores below deck.
