Title: Engine side cover finishes
Post by: ozzybud on January 22, 2024, 01:44:42 AM: My new 1975 CB400F has all the indications that the engine side covers are all painted Cloud Silver and not Polished. Is this correct? all the Pictures i have researched online (BAT, Google) show all the bikes i can find have painted covers. My CB360T has all painted covers as well.My CB550,750 have polished covers. Thanks

A lot of debate on here but this is what I use. Others will argue the case for other products.
The lower crankcases on the CB360 and CB400F were not painted or polished.

Depends which covers you mean on the 750 and 550 For instance the cam cover was polished and lacquered on most CB750's

If it gets sent over via air freight in the post its still flown with no issues so never had a problem but |I hear you mate.

I will try The Dupli-Color as it is less than half the price of the Honda paint.

Post by: ozzybud on January 22, 2024, 06:42:34 PM: This is the CB360T I did a few years ago. Honda Cloud Silver with automotive clearcoat over it. Might be a little overdone but it looks good. Has over 1000 miles and has held up well against the elements and heat. And gas won't touch it

You could always lacquer it with petrol resistant lacquer Ash.
