Just seen this, it may be of interest to some. I don't know anything about it other than what is written. 198,000 Yen = just under £1000 GBP at today's exchange rate.

Was there anything about the double-skinned headers/collector box Julie? Probably of more significance than the silencer.

No Ash, nothing mentioned about the headers.
-
A £1000 for a silencer :o.
I think for the sake of a Sankei makers stamp and a part number I'd rather spend £200 on a pattern silencer and use the £800 change on a holiday 8)

Whilst this may be good news for some, £1,000 is an awful lot of dosh just for a silencer. I see that DSS has very good pattern ones in stock for £188. Is it worth an extra £800 just to obtain the correct name/number engraving?

Perhaps Delkevic may start making them.
Not sure what is going on with Brituro who makes (made) them for DS, Yamiya, Classic Bike Shop etc. as they stopped trading recently but then started up again as another name.

I wonder if something is getting lost in the translation Julie .. maybe by 'muffler' they mean the complete system?

Quite possibly Ash. Yamiya call the complete system the muffler, so it would make sense.

Well if that is the case that's not a bad deal and assuming the headers are double skinned as per the originals. I'll cancel that holiday :)

They are deffo double skinned ... I checked ... Also Yamiya ones are not ... it states so on their website since I told them to mark on the listing if there were or not.

IMO, £1000 for the complete system, double pipes as per originals and with Honda "trademark" would be a great deal but, IMO, that doesn't seem possible for manufacturing/copyright/marketing/profit nowadays. OTOH, I'd love to find my opinion is incorrect!!! :)

Well I asked the question of the Sankei man himself and got this reply and photograph?? Heres hoping ..dont forget there would be import duty VAT etc , shipping from Japan.
Ashley Derrick Sankei has obtained approval from Honda to sell it throughout the exhaust system.[attachimg=1]

Perhaps if sales are good they will make another batch if they have done the tooling?
-
That picture is a huge carrot Ash and why we should be thinking of taking a holiday to Japan with a large empty suitcase!
-
Re import from Japan...I didn't realize the import duty was what it was when I recently bought a camera lens from Japan; I was surprised to get an additional charge for £60+ before it could be delivered. I had previously ordered/received other items from Japan and there was no import/duty charge. Don't know why there was import/duty required for that item from Japan but not other items...

I believe it depends on the value that the exporter puts on the export certicate declaration.
