Title: Forum loading like its 1999
Post by: DomP on June 01, 2024, 12:56:25 PM
Every time I visit the forum today its asking me to sign in rather than automatically, its also displaying like an early basic forum from the late nineties.  Anyone else got this problem?

Could be an automatic OS update might be the cause.

OK here as well :).
Try switching off your laptop or shutting down your phone and restarting. Sounds like you may have pressed something and maybe changed the settings somehow?

I've had similar in the past on other sites, in my case it was down to a browser update by a Windows update. I cleared all  my browser history so had to re- enter all my history log in details plus I did an a chrome update. Annoyingly for me MS edge keeps on trying to take over my PC & laptop offering things I do not want.

This is the trouble I get on the Thames Water site with Google Chrome, a system that seems to be getting overloaded now. All I do is use Microsoft Edge or Yahoo instead.  8) You could also try clearing cookies. Do you have CCleaner installed?

While we are on this sort of topic, this past few weeks I'm having trouble loading thumbnails on the 400Fourbits site, the pages stubbornly refuse to load properly no matter what browser I use, am I alone in this?  :o

I've just checked again on the 400fourbits site - all is working for me.
I'm running Win 11 64 bit Laptop, my PC is also Win 11 64 bit - no idea what my Phone has it's newish a Google Pixel 6 that I hardly understand - it seems to have a mind of it's own.lol

I am in the habit of checking my PC & the wifes for Google Chrome updates as they seem to appear every month or so depending on how often the OS is updated. Im currently on Chrome version 125.0.0422.142 it seems you need to do these updates manually - I'm not overly PC savy.

Windows 10 with 64 bit. I used to have XP before!  ;D I dodged the disaster of Vista

What browser if that's the right word are you using e.g.Google Chrome, MS Edge etc?

Although I have automatic updates my computers are often not on long enough for any sort of automatic updates to arrive so I do them manually.

Nothing wrong with XP, my desktop still runs it! Main use laptop is 7, the spare laptop used for tom tom updates is 10 but had to fit an ssd to make the loading time reasonable.

I agree Bryan XP & Win 7 are  pretty stable - in fact although I am run Win 11 I use the Win7 Shell  Classic Start overlay so my desktop looks like Win 7. Sad eh.
