Title: Valvoline Carburettor cleaner
Post by: andy120t on June 22, 2024, 06:27:50 PM
I've just been using this on my Zephyr 550 carbs. Bike started but wouldn't pull away and stalled as I fed in revds. With no desire to take the carbs apart...I tried this stuff, which supposedly clears out the gunk/ deposits etc.

Warm up engine. Air filter out. Spray directly into carbs. Leave running for three minutes.

Bingo! I could hear it clear after about 2 mins as the revs suddenly picked up and she began to run more strongly. So I went for a little ride as and it was perfect.

Bike had been standing for about a year, but still started so I assumed it was a blockages in the main jets. Fab stuff - I'm back on the road! Recommended trying this before you get into too much dismantling.

That sounds like a magic brew Andy, I'll be ordering some of that. Thanks for the recommendation 👍

The Technicians at MB used to spray injector cleaner into the air intake on petrol injected engines upstream of the actual injectors as well as poring it into a new fuel filter on direct injection diesels.
