I've never really been convinced redex or other fuel additive work.
But curiosity got the better of me as I've used the bike a lot in the last two weeks. Around 700miles a week currently and I had a mad moment and splurged on a 500ml bottle of Hydra Pic-24. As it's been shown signs of dirty carbs coughing and farting, not pulling full revs and I can't be arsed to take them off.
The light rust in my tank is almost completely eliminated after half a bottle has been run through it.
Today I thought I'd better check the gauze filter in the tap that was filthy and sediment in the tap bowl.
Popped the bowls of the carbs and the aluminium is shiny and spotless with only a small amount of debris in the first two bowls.
It now runs almost perfectly.
There's a small exhaust leak on no4 header that's causing an occasional pop. Once that's sorted I think all will be well

Hydra Pic-24 - that's a new one to me - not the catchiest name - very interesting reading your experience/result.
I've probably said this before on the sohc forum - my best man (Bob Cutler) when I re-married in 1978 was probably one of just a handful of specialist/experts on oils & oil additatives in the UK. He started work at Lubrisol in Hazelwood near Duffield working in the oil analysis laboratory taking an OU degree in Chemistry. After being head hunted he moved to a lab in Birmingham, then Southern Ireland finally to Conwy, He retired when he was 70. He quickly became bored with retirement, started his own oil analysis company with his son somewhere in the Conwy area. Enough of the back story here is what he told me way back before I married the first time in 1970.
At Lubrisol they did a lot of testing of various oil brands, addidtatives for oil & iirc petrol. At that time Redex was very popular as a upper cylinder lubricant being sold on most petrol forcourts. Bob said that the chemical profile or words to that effect of Redex & 2T oil were almost identical - 2T oil was much cheaper than Redex - I used 2T oil for decades in my cars and motorcycles until the advent of Catalytic Converters.
Naturally things have moved on so most likely new products will be better than 2T oil.
This is the place Bob started - he must be stepping back looking at the company listing .https://oilanalysislab.com/contact-oil-analysis-laboratories/

I can happily report snake oil it ain't.
My tank and carbs are now spotless.
No flat spots and smoother than it's ever been.
I can drop the revs down to just over 1000 rpm in top roll on the throttle and the bike will keep going until it hits the red.

How is it cleaning your petrol tank - what changes are you seeing?
-
Apparently it's got rust inhibitors in it.
The tunnel was speckled and the base of the tank was orange with minor crusty bits in the seams
-
Before the carbs were clean the bike would bog down on 1/4 or 1/2
throttle at around 3500rpm and not smooth out unless you wound the throttle on gently and then still not pull above 5000rpm.
Occasionally it would develop a flat spot around 2500rpm
