I have an extra earth strap left over from my 500 rebuild.
Its exactly a foot long with a 6mm battery type connector at one end, the other end is a flat 6 mm terminal the cable is 7.5 mm o/d including the insulation so pretty hefty.
I recall thinking at the time that it ws a good idea - so far no trawls of my dismantling photos have come up showing it.
I can't remember where it was fitted as an extra earth strap by a PO (Bryan or earlier) any ideas anyone?

I have no knowledge of any extra GND wire, not separate I mean. There is a thick green wire supposed to connect to the frame where the coils are, but that is part of the harnass.

Dont remember an extra earth lead Ted, the only one i remember is battery to LH rear engine mount where paint needs to be removed.
The positive to solenoid was made up my me

I've checked the photos it was not connected directly to the battery at one end.
I'm thinking it might have been a frame to engine link or frame to rear fender.

there is defo one from battery negative to rear engine bolt

I have that one fitted in place with powder coating removed.
I remember thinking it was a good idea at the time, just can't remember where it was fitted. I'm not going to fit it back I guess. I did wonder if it was fitted at the back between the frame somewhere and the rear mudguard to help with rear lights and indicators. I fashioned a replacement rear sub loom with good earth.

Not likely plus I have a photo of the side cover off, only main starter lead before strip down & alternator wiring etc.
