Title: Honda ss50
Post by: Gazzerist on September 06, 2024, 09:38:13 AM
Hi
When I was 16 in 1976 I  had a Honda ss50.
I have been looking for a project to do to rekindle the memories. [attachimg=1]
I found one on eBay the same colour blue, it's in poor shape, so will need a lot of work.
What I wanted to know is the paint code or names for the grey colour of the frame and the blue for the tank.
Can anyone help?

Welcome ! You have your work cut out there. Where are you in the UK?

Frame is 'Honda Rat Grey'
..I think late 1960's Honda C90's came in that colour.

Tank is Candy Sapphire Blue. i.e metallic ground coat followed by candy top coat then clear coated.

RS Bikepaint sells the paint but bl**dy pricey.

I would try and source from a paint factors if I was you. RS paint is made by Lechler. You may get a a spectrophotometer scan matching at a local paint factors as you have the original tank.

Thanks very much for that,  I thought it was rat grey, but I saw another colour elephant grey so I wasn't sure.
Yes there is a bit of work to do, but I have to finish my classic Fiat 500 basket case to fiirst, which has cost a lot so I need to get it sold to release the money, then I can get stuck into the Honda, I  can't wait.
