Being a US import my ‘76 K2 came with a pair of tatty high bars which needed replacing. I have put a pair of 400/4 bars on it whilst rebuilding and although everything fits on - just, they don’t look right and feel too narrow for me. I thought that I would buy a pair from David Silver for the UK 550 as they are flatter bars. However, DS don’t list a ‘76 UK K2 (maybe they were only sold in the US?). I’m guessing the bars from the UK ‘76 F1 supersport will fit fine.
This then leaves me needing throttle cables and a clutch cable that fit a US ‘76 K2 with flat bars. Will the cables for the UK F1 supersport do the job? I understand that the differences between the models is mainly in the exhaust system and air intake system.

Yes Mike, we never had 550 K models in the UK model range until the K3 in 1978. Bars and cables from the UK model K3 could be another option worth considering.

K3 had diferent carbs and cables, F1 should be fine or uk 500

Would the 500 UK bars fit a 550?

Yep on the 550K up to 3 as its a 500 with 550 engine

I've got 550 bars that I took off my F1, they are drilled for cables and in good condition. PM me if interested Mike, I can send some photos to check they are what you're looking for.

I've got the 550 drilled bars that DS sells on two of my bikes. They are just over 28 ins width over the grips. I think these are the same (shows the drilled holes in the lower pics) :
