Title: TEC shocks
Post by: DomP on November 29, 2024, 03:38:49 PM
The shocks on my 550 are...shocking!  I've found TEC shocks on Ebay with piggyback reservoirs, has anyone used them and can  recommend that I order resprung for my miniature 10st 7lbs?

I have fitted a set of TEC standard  chrome shocks

For the price, they look good and  very similar to the original,

But, the spring is very soft, I need to set it on the hardest for a normal ride, no adjustment for a pillion  ,also after a reasonable time, the damping seems to vanish, I can feel them bottom out over bumps,

But, cosmeticly they look good

I used Hagon shocks on my 750. They look quite oem. I am very happy with how they transformed the bike. I'm 175lbs and I no longer bottom out the rear, no wallow and confident handling.

They do ask your weight before making up the shocks.

Only problem with Hagons, or rather Girlings as they used to be, was whilst they supplied different springs for the different models (750,550,500,400) the lengths were all the same which was not what Honda dif

I must admit that the Hagons definately improved my 750F1 handling compared to stock ones.

Cheers

My Hagons were very slightly longer (couple mm) than what I took off (originals). I thought due to sagging old springs. The bike doesn't sag anywhere near as much under its own weight. So difficult to compare. Rides well though.

Strangely enough my Superdream is fitted with Hagons, nothing fancy just a normal looking damper no extra reservoirs or whatever they are called like on race bikes.

I have Hagons on my CB200

Look good, work well, quite firm,

Slight issue, they are about 2cm to  long

Making it difficult to remove the wheel without the standard exhaust getting in the way,

Fitted Ikons with adjustable spring pre-load and damping dial adjustment.

Top notch, but needed to dig deep into my pocket.
