Hi everyone, can somebody explain the reason for the rubber connector that joins the two silencers on my 1974 550, thanks for any advice you can give me.
-
Likely similar reasons dual exhaust cars have "H'" pipes
here is an AI answer for h pipes. likely gives it a better sound.
Cars have H-pipes in their exhaust systems to help equalize exhaust pressure between the two sides of the engine by creating a crossover point, which can lead to improved engine performance, particularly by enhancing low-end torque and smoother power delivery, especially on vehicles with dual exhaust systems; essentially, the H-pipe allows exhaust pulses from one side of the engine to interact with the other, promoting better gas flow.

Somebody in Hondas R&D in the late 60's worked out you got a slight increase in power with it fitted
-
Bryan, have you got “convert characters to emojis†set in your PC?

Yes, when these 'balance tubes' are more towards the end, there's a slight increase in high rpm's, the more towards the head, you gain somewhat in the lower range. That's the idea. Personally I don't think ours make much difference. After all... Honda dropped them when they launched the K3's.

Absolutely no idea what you are talking about Steve

Nor me.

Well i was on my dumfone when i wrote it, the pc is still running 98 and the laptop 7!
-
thanks for all the advice, was wondering if the connectors can be removed without causing any problems as it is a real bore trying to line the connectors up so would it be possible to seal the openings on the exhausts or will it cause the bike to run badly cheers.
-
Probably not, only the nit pickers will be upset
-
As Bryan says leave them fitted or you will be harassed by the classic bike police every time you take it out 😄😄. Well the lack of them will definitely be pointed out to you.
I haven’t got a 5mm diameter red dot 🔴 painted on the front brake caliper of my CBX and I am always being told about the error of my ways. Now I have become stubborn and won’t put it on 😂
-
Hey, Murf. Put two red dots on. That should mess with their heads. Then tell them it’s an American model!
-
Or HRC.
-
😁😁😁
-
thread on the CBX International site (I can't work out how to copy the link) says it's not a red dot, it's a red splash...then the red is masked off (with a dot sticker?) and black painted over leaving a red dot. So next time it's mentioned, ask if you can scratch their caliper paint to see if they have the correct splash!

thanks for all the info, think i will leave them on, its not as if i will be taking the pipes off on a regular basis cheers.

Is this price, € 400,- €
1.350,- for a complete set* misleading? Probably Busso meant it as a first downpayment.
https://www.bussostore.com/en/products/marmitte-honda-replica-originali-cb500k0k1k2-four
Where I live, it's law they have to sell it to you for the price anounced.
*Busso forgot to mention the set will also fit the CB550-CB550K2 models.

It's 50% of the total price Delta, so €400 now, €400 when ready for dispatch + shipping.

Not so here. However, most large companies will honour an advertised price unless it is clearly ridiculous and a genuine error.
Contract law in the UK is actually the other way around.
A product is advertised for a price.
You “offer†to buy it at the advertised price but the seller doesn’t have to accept your contract.
Makes for great questions in accountancy exams (I’ve done a few)

Look up Busso on the us site, people are still waiting over 2 years after paying

I thought for some reason they had gone into liquidation so were flogging off stock for creditors.
