Just wondered what the consensus off opinion on treating block connectors before connecting them up. Better to leave clean and dry or maybe a squirt of WD? How do you treat yours?
-
When I've replaced block connectors after cleaning contacts I clip them together then squirt some WD40 on them in the hope of driving out any moisture, I have run out of contact cleaner that might be better. Bullet connectors I just do dry.
Not saying it's a good idea, just being honest.

Just wondered Ted with them being quite exposed to the moisture road spray etc.
-
In my head I think after it stops raining then they blow dry!😃
-
Probably do indeed. I’m not generally getting my connections wet, but do usually get an annual soaking getting caught out.😜
-
Silicone grease onto all the contact /voids.
Doesn't conduct, so no benefits in that direction, but with almost complete absence of any moisture during use, they stay in pristine condition.
It won't affect plastics or rubber either.

The 6.3mm terminals/connectors are very robust, just keep them clean & dry.

I treat all electrical connectors with a whiff of ACF-50... spray, or distribute a small amount with a Q-tip, whatever the situation requires...

Brilliant results...
Handlebar switch-pods, ignition lock switch-plates, bullet- or multi pin connectors, relay & bulb sockets... (even the PCB inside the face-plate of the Sony stereo on my ST1100...)

Aye,
I agree.
Clean and dry is best, spray stuff attracts unwanted dust and dirt to stick.

When I cleaned up my wiring harnes all the connectors were cleaned and then coated with dielectric (silicone) grease, never had a problem.
Cheers
