This has possibly been discussed before 🫣 but what are people's preferences when it comes to carb rubbers clamps? The original type or 'jubilee clip' type ?
-
Personally speaking…original.

You have to be carefull with jubilee as most are too wide, i did find some stainless narrow ones on ebay, if i can find a number i will post it

Or these… https://4into1.com/cb500k2-500-four-1973/?_bc_fsnf=1&Main+Category=Air+%2F+Fuel

Not from the firm i used but same things

Got to be careful with some of those after market hose clips, they have sharp edges that could damage the rubber manifold stubs if over tightened.
The Norma brand seem to have the turned up edges similar to the OE Honda ones tho.
Although I use only the proper Honda ones.

Just seen this, those clips look ok and have the turned up edges I mentioned on my post above.

I wouldn't recommend 4 into 1 to anyone, their reputation for selling crap is worldwide.
-
To be fair, I bought some clips and they were fine.
I couldn’t comment on other products.
-
Don't buy any rubber products or carb products, both are very cheap, poorly made and cause problems. USA site is full of comments regarding them.

I was asking more on what style of clamp we prefer and possibly why you prefer that type. I've just taken some jubilee type off mine to go back to the original type but not sure if I'm doing right
-
Hi, Tezzer.
I’d say whatever takes your fancy as long as they fir properly and don’t damage the rubbers.
Me, I prefer to run with what the original manufacturer used.

I prefer stainless jubilee clips myself, just because they don't rust, they are also able to exert more pressure as I've had standard clips where the ears are hard up against each other so are at the limit of sealing power. Also how many have had the screw rust into place and the whole clip bending sideways when you try and remove the clip.
However the downside is that they can mark the rubber, it's only visible though when you remove the clip.

For the rubbers between the inlet manifold I'd use stainless bands. For the rubbers between the carbs and the airbox are softer and more easily damaged so I like to stick to original bands.

Bad enough but DSS are silly price.
