Title: Does anyone have a TL125S Speedo Case
Post by: Laverda Dave on April 24, 2025, 12:11:36 PM
I am looking for a chrome speedo case for the TL125S I am currently restoring if anyone has one they would like to sell?

Peter Horton has skillfully restored the speedo and it know works as it should instead of the needle going round and round the face!

Unfortunately Peter is unable to restore the outer bezel and case that have been badly mangled in a fall. The nasty dent in the case is in exactly the place you really don’t want it, in the area where there is a plate inside to locate the idiot lights making it impossible to get to in order to knock the dent out.
If anyone has a case and bezel lying around (or even a complete speedo ;)) you may wish to sell please let me know, you’ll make a TL very happy ;D

Dave

I spoke to Peter before you had this project about doing mine which has rust rash. He thought he had some suitable tube that would do this job? Obviously not suitable? To be fair Peter had never worked on a TL before....

Yes Tim. He told me this was the first TL he had come across and he's never seen this type of case before. Normally he would be able to straighten it out but of course this dent is behind the idiot light plate making it impossible to get a hammer in there. It might have to go back as it is and can be a 'trophy' mark!

Is it made of steel? Any chance of pulling it out with a powerful magnet?

I’m still in the states Dave but only until next Thursday if you can find one and get it shipped here?
If that helps at all?

Thanks Roo
I have looked on the US eBay site but drawn a blank. I will keep trying and let you know if anything comes up.
Gareth, unfortunately the damage is a crease rather than a dent (the bike was obviously used hard in it's previous life judging by the damage a broken drive chain has done). I think it will be unlikely to pulled out with a magnet but I guess worth a try if I can find a powerful magnet if anyone knows of a location of one?
