Title: 400/4 OEM horn
Post by: exvalvesetdabbler on May 08, 2025, 07:04:02 PM
Trying to find out what the original finish on the horn bracket  and  nut that holds the horn to the bracket was, zinc plate or black enamel ?  The big slotted screw with the fine thread has zinc plate on it but I'm not seeing traces elsewhere.

I currently have a zinc plate bath on the go and getting the urge to plate anything that's a bit crusty.

Best Regards
Dave.

Toko is correct.
Looking at my original bracket it is painted black the same as the frame (original ones also have a a part code painted in white on the bracket itself, code is 12V  H with the letters 3A105db below it and 1 6 Q below that).
The horn itself is BZP with the large mounting nut and fine thread screw being yellow passivated (as are the two wiring spade connectors on the horn).

Thanks.

I have some dreg ends in a satin black rattle can so that will have to do.

After a winter rest it never works anyway until you press the button and whack it with a screwdriver handle. I did fill it up with WD40 and suck it out again with a syringe but that only lasted 3-4 years.

Regards
Dave.
