Title: Another Newbie
Post by: Robindevon on June 04, 2025, 05:35:36 PM
Hi all
Just to introduce myself.  I have a CB750 4 K4 engine in a K2 frame (I think).  Its been stood in a barn for 30 odd years so needs a lot of TLC.  My first of many questions is apart from this great forum for information what (real) book would you recommend for information on restoration etc.  Your comments would be appreciated [attach=1]. Cheers

Hopefully photo attached.  As you can see its in an "cafe racer style" though in its present condition it won't be racing anywhere.  It has twin disc conversion, both calipers seized.  Borrani Ali rims. Engine does run.  Speedo says 24.8K miles.
Cheers

Ace bars, TwoFour seat and a plastic front mudguard.
We all did that!

We didn’t all manage a twin disk conversion though.

Looks a tidy bike, seized callipers can be fixed, if you use the search facility you will soon sort it without damage.

Welcome to the forum.

Silvers not necessarily post what you need and advice will be given, like caliper piston use stainless from honda classics

On my first Honda build I started with DS as I did not know about things like good quality bearings can be sourced cheaper elsewhere. I have found Pyramid Parts sell decent front suspension seals etc. It's usually worth spending some time searching ebay and asking for alternative sources on here for specific parts.
As Bryan has said some parts can be sourced from lots of alternative places.
We aslo have member Nurse Julie here who sells a variety of parts and is a site sponsor.

Welcome to the forum.
That will be a very nice period modified bike with a good clean and tidy up. Wicked rear sets, who made those, Dunstal?

Hi @Laverda Dave. Not too sure wether I'll keep the cafe racer look. My aim is to resurrect the bike first then take it from there. Rear sets are not Dunstal. I may be wrong but I think they are one off. I had Dunstal tank, seat etc. on my Norton Atlas. wish I'd never sold it to Pride and Clarke. Cheers Rob.

Welcome to the forum. 👍

Brake hoses outside the fork legs! Looks iffy. 😖
Please tell us that you'll re-route them.

Thanks@taysidedragon. You are right, will definitely reroute the lines. In fact the whole set up looks unsafe. There seems to be a small homemade bracket/spacer on the right caliper mounting ! Cheers Rob.

There has to be a spacer for the bracket on one side as the brackets should be handed but the second side was never sold by Honda except in full racing kits
