HI All DEAD QUICKY QUESTION. Honda CB550
Which way do you need to turn this nut to undo it please I had a look on the internet & it seems to be anti clockwise to undo is that correct ??? as its FT tight !!!!

1 yes its f tight
2 yes you undo anti clock(normal thread)
3 YOU NEED THE PROPER PULLER TO REMOVE THE ROTOR

That's what you need

Hi Bryanj & Dom
Thank you both for your help and reply's I have got a M16 x 1.5 RH bolt as per Kens suggestion from the local tractor store for about £2.00 so hopefully that will do the trick along with a good air compressor to undo the nut 🤞

I think I stuck something in the rotor to stop it spinning
-
Ok I was hoping the sharp impact of the air tool would be enough to start to undo the bolt ? But will bear in mind I might have to hold the rotor too
-
The sudden shock of the air ratchet is normally enough to loosen it. I don't think I'd be trying to hold it with my hand and be careful if you try and wedge something in there to stop it turning as you don't want it spinning and hitting the crankcase breaking a chunk off.

Long before rattle guns became cheap a ring spanner and lump hammer used to work

Hi Laverda Dave & Bryanj
Thank you for your useful comment on where not to grab hold of duly noted...... Might be worth a little heat on the main steel lump before I attempt the air tool ? Nothing wrong with a large heavy hammer 🤗😂
-
Heat will make no difference, may even make the rotor expand and tighten the bolt, unless you can heat just the bolt.
The bolt is done up tight but will undo, the rotor is just on a taper with no keyway.
Have seen several rotors ruined by trying a 3 legged puller!

Thank you for update where stick to nothing fancy just normal engineering practices 🔨 ⚒️

Be good to read you have managed to undo it without too much palava. ;)
-
Tuesday is the day for doing it. As I volunteer at a adult learning center and they have a proper big boys compressor so should do the trick np will keep you all posted
-
Well for those who where following this post Tuesday comes early up here in deepest Yorkshire, I had to drop my seat off for powder coating and I just happened to ask if Andrew had a torque gun that would undo the Stator nut and well to my surprise after 5 seconds of the battery torque gun on it off the nut came Happy Days :) and then pop the £2.00 puller bolt M16 x 1.5 on from the local tractor shop and off it came no problem 🤗
Jobs a good-en 🤗

Glad to hear it!
