Hello to you all. I’m an owner of a 400-4 that has been asleep for around 22 years. It was kept in a dry workshop and come to me via a freind and sadly the owner passing. I’ve started with a light recommission. Carbs, ignition, inlet manifolds, front brake rebuild. First test ride today.

That sounds an interesting bike, I guess the clutch was probably stuck as well.
Be good to see some photos.👍

Reminds me of Rip Van Winkle! ;D
Welcome here, there's lots of people about to help you get her going!

Welcome to the best 400Four forum!

Welcome to the forum. Is it an F or F2 model? We need to know the colour as well, the reason will become obvious 😉.
22 years is a long layup, do have some 'as found' photos?

Hello from sunny Orkney, (at least at the moment 😜) you’ve come to the right place for any 400 knowledge.

Welcome

She is an F2. With F1 decals and currently a very worn black colour. The clutch was stuck but as soon as she ran for a few mins freed up. Great first test ride out. Made it there and back no issues. Initial start up file needs some fettling.

Picture.

That looks in good condition. Is that a new rear mudguard I can see? Is it the original seat as well?
It looks like it has been well looked after by the previous owner.

The picture makes her look fresher than she is. All the chrome is showing its age. The seat base is plastic so not original. She is running well. I intend to ride her through the summer and the strip down for a frame and engine paint over winter. Not sure where to take her after that.
