I need a carrier on my F1.
Hopefully next year I'll manage a few camping trips on it.
Nothing too serious.
Has anyone got one of those swing back type carriers which put the load area over the tail piece, but move backwards to allow the seat to be opened ?
I was offered one once, but I cried off at the £250 price tag.
And I didn't bother to keep the photos that the seller sent to me.
Which was pretty dumb on my part, because now I'm working in a fabrication shop again, and I could potentially build my own.
So if anyone has got one on their F1, or F2, could you please manage to post a few photos for me to work from ?
It could potentially save me a lot of guesswork

Yes, mine is the 750, which has a large plastic tail fairing bolted to the rear of the seat pan.
But that rack would work perfectly on the 750F1.
Of course I doubt if a CB550 would fit the 750, but the principle is right.
TBH, there's a lot of work that goes into a well crafted rear carrier, tube was often bronze welded prior to chroming, which was usually top quality triple plated.
Nevertheless, I've spotted a couple of NOS carriers for sale in the US, conventional type, for the 750K series, not the F1.
Price was $499 each.
Add on shipping to be UK and VAT.........
I think that I might need to dig out my TIG welder

This is a photo of My CB750F1 from around 1977, that's not me on it but my mate Derek.
I cannot remember where I bought the rack but it folded after loosening or removing 2 wing nuts, and had fittings for the indicators.

That's the sort of thing I need.
Maybe just a bit bigger so that I can bungee a lightweight tent and a couple of sleeping bags onto it .
Obviously nothing too heavy, because it's a terrible place to put dead weight.
I've got a couple of spare F1 grab rails, in various states of rustiness.
I think I might actually use one of them as a base for a new carrier.
I could weld some really solid brackets on to provide pivot points

I think this is perhaps a Tower rack that I've since removed and fitted a Givi set up.

And this is the afore mentioned Givi set up with panniers frames.

That Givi system certainly seems to carry a lot of stuff.
And avoids the seat opening issue by simply moving the load area further back.
Maybe I'm being too fussy about keeping the load as far forward as possible.
Well, due to my tight fisted nature, I'll probably never own a Givi luggage system.
Mine will likely be the garden shed manufactured version.
When I finally get there, I'll post up some photos on here

Keep an eye on eBay once you have worked out which bits you need.

With spring not far off, it's time I pulled my finger out and got the F1 on the road.
