Hi Guys I have been lucky and just picked up a second hand chain guard for my 400 4, chrome shows some pitting but I have tried the old trick of rubbing it over with silver foil and it doesn’t look that bad viewed from a distance see picture attached.
It would be great to get it re chromed but I thinks this will be rather expensive to get done especially as there are very few companies doing it in the UK

Hi Ken,
I've used Prestige plating in Mexborough Yorkshire. You could ring and talk with them for a guide price - they are not cheap but excellence rarely is. They have done lots for me and other Forum members - including quite a few sets of DID wheel rims over many years.
Ian
Forgot to say - their lead time can be very long, so Winter might be best.
-
You could also try Ashford Plating located in Crayford SE London. As Ian mentions chrome plating is expensive if done well. Their lead time is 10 weeks and they are used to doing motorcycle parts.
-
Ok thanks for the advice guys

Plus 1 for the prestige recommendations.
-
The last time I took a 400F chainguard to Prestige to have re-chromed, she (Diane) quoted me around £80 inc VAT.
-
£80 doesn’t sound too bad to me I do appreciate there is a lot of prep to do to get a nice finish and the actual plating process takes quite a bit of time.
-
Mine cost around double that, sounds a bargain.
-
Depends if you want it polishing to within an inch of its life or what they call a line finish.
Chrome on new oem ones weren't that shiny apart from the top and outside bit where the decal goes.
Regards
Dave
