Title: Powder coating
Post by: Grewth on October 20, 2025, 06:37:34 PM
How much should I be looking at paying to have everything that was originally black media blasted and powder coated ?
I've got a CB750F1 to put together and everything needs doing,  frame,  swingarm, yokes, stands, brackets,  etc,
UK based

I had my frame forks and all brackets etc blasted and powder coated and it was just over £200 pounds which was a few years ago but what you have to consider is the amount of time it would take you to do this yourself and I think in the scheme of things it’s money well spent and a great start to your build.

I found a local company in Sussex to power coat my bike and have been extremely pleased with the results, you can spray a bike yourself but you need a lot of room and very clean conditions, with power coating you get an excellent finish which is even all over with no issues with drips etc . The other consideration is that the finish is baked on and I would say gives you a much harder wearing finish.

I recently paid £170 for a 550 frame, SA, centre & side  stand, eng brackets, battery box,  I think that was quite cheap, I also had a quote for over £400 from a well known motorbike painter,  so I think that’s the range.

I also had the offer from someone to paint the frame with 2k which would have been nice but I had to strip the old frame paint myself.  I just didn’t have the time or inclination to do that. I could have had it grit blasted and taken it to him but I figured that by the time I got it to him and he got around to painting it it would have flashed rusted.

So like Ken 4004 has said well worth the money not to have the hassle +a good hard wearing finish.

A long time ago (2007) I got my 750F1 black parts powder coated by Elite Engineering and Powder Coating in Liverpool and they did a great job, they even spotted and repaired some corroded parts on the frame as well.
Lots of bike restorers used their services as well back then.

Cheers
