Title: Replacing images from lost posts particularly project builds.
Post by: AshimotoK0 on October 29, 2025, 07:29:27 AM
I keep looking at old posts on here...particularly project builds and it really saddens me that most of the images are gone for good ...or am I mistaken and there is a thread  :D of hope that they may be recovered? One for Steve I guess.

On my CB500K0 build thread, Ben Powell (member here) and myself are finishing that bike off over the next few months with a view to Ben riding it next spring.. It's a monumental challenge but I am going to try to recover most of the images by going through old hard drives etc. It may all end up in tears but lets hope eh  :) One things for sure I am going to put every image recovered into a Dropbox link so that if a disaster happens again I can recover.

One thread that was really good (not started by me but I contributed to) was a collection of original sales brochure images.....I used to constantly refer to these by just putting 'Brochure' in the search box. Pretty sure I can recover my content contributions.

Thankfully the manuals in my Dropbox links are still working OK but the Alladins Cave ones are damaged.

Anyone else up for the challenge?

I agree with you Ash as someone who spent ages uploading photos from my phone onto my laptop and then having to resize them in order to be able to post to the forum. These have now all gone but to make matters worse I didn't keep the resized images as they were so small in size they didn't show the detail so I deleted them as I posted them and kept the originals!
I don't know if there's a magic wand that you can use to highlight a series of photos and downsize them in one go otherwise it becomes a laborious task. If anyone knows how to do it let me know and I'll give it a go to reinstate the photos on my threads.
I guess a lot of people who are restoring 400/4’s would be interested in Julie's detailed engine rebuild thread but those images have now disappeared as well.

My 400 build from 2020 still has all the photos.

Might be as I used Flikr - no resizing required.

This may help https://imageresizer.com/bulk-resize others available too.

The heading "batch image resize" searched will bring up various options.

It used to be in workflow sections of significant image processing for convenience, but obviously demand seems to have brought this particular function out into more accessible and convenient availability.
