I cannot believe you are leaving an unfinished beer. Shameful!!!!!

Only one thing worse than working Xmas is being ill as well. I remember having the flu around the festive time and was supposed to be hauling a tesco trailer and unloading. I was just shivering running hot and cold. Phoned in and said I was ill and couldn’t come in. Got a call back 15 mins later telling me there was no one else.😳 Not a good day!😡 Quite happy to leave that behind me.

And a merry Christmas to one and all.
I know where you are coming from Bryan I worked shift for over 30 years, initially we worked 7 afternoons, then 7 night shifts then 7 mornings.
At Christmas and New Years eve it was great (not), getting a phone call from home with party noises in the background.
If you actually worked on Christmas day you got a bonus of a free mince pie, with 8 of us on shift we were allowed to have 2 off at a time, these slots naturally went to the married guys with kids normally.
Years later on 12 hour shifts we did 2 days then 2 nights off things got better but it was not fun.
Cheers
Dennis

Christmas is a pain in the butt for anyone over 13! I hope your chest gets better soon Bryan!

Get well soon Bryan.
When I was working we had to take leave between Christmas (27th) and New years day because they didn't want anyone working over the festive period.
If you didn't have enough leave it was taken from your next years leave allocation and that didn't start until 1st April! We effectively had 10 days off and although it sounds great just how much can you eat and drink plus the weather was usually dire, biking was a bit of a no,no and it gets dark at 4pm!
They were forced to drop the leave requirement about 10 years ago due to complaints on the strength that not everyone celebrates Christmas and especially in London these days.
Anyway, have a good build up to the season of goodwill everyone and may Santa bring you that original, one owner, sandcast 750 project you've been waiting for :)

Thank you all for the cheers, i am told i am now officially a GOG!
This particular bug is a real doozy, so far in three days i have used half a workshop blue roll to cough the Grinch Colour seemingly never ending coughed up lumps into, one bottle of benilyn, one pack of strawberry strepsils(sugar free as i am diabetic!) Run total out of patience with delivery idiots who insist on knocking on the door when we have a perfectly good door bell and out bed is on the 3rd floor.
Only fit for keeping the burmese cat warm and drinking diet coke so verry sorry for myself and extra grumpy.
Must get out my Bah Humbug hat for next set of shift

Yes get well soon Bryan, and good health to all over the festive. Fingers crossed I can avoid the lurgy! Sickness and diarrhoea going rife here in the schools!🤮

That picture is from Bob Westner who was a mod on sohc4.net for many years. I found it in a post from Dec 2008.

Coughing up phlegm is a sign of possible pneumonia Bryan. As someone who’s had that recently I would advise a trip to the hospital for an X-ray, it’s a killer if left untreated.

Hi Ken, one of the first things they did when i went diabetic wasgive me both flu and pneumonia jab telling me i didnt need an extra.
Comming from Cottonopolis(Bury) bronchitis was an annual occurence and this one is not much worse than then, i had thought of it but i rekon the back is broke now and recovering, i really appreciate the thought though mate, hope you still improving
