To all of us who have had a bad health year may we hope for a better 26
There have been several topics where health has been bad and some very serious things gone on, i have been there and everyone in that situation has my profound good wishes and best regards for the future.

Good shout Bryan,
Certainly Ken and Ted have really been put through the mill this year and my kidney failure is under control with less visits to Aberdeen Royal needed. We are very fortunate here, still having the dwindling remains of a health service. Hope '26 is better for all and once we get past the Bah Humbugs, I can start foraging for Easter eggs!
All the very best to one and all

Yes all the best to all.
Had two crappy weeks here.
Just completed two weeks of jury service and having to travel alongside the great unwashed on public transport I had/ still have a snotty head cold. Still coughing up 'pork pie jelly' and nose running like a tap. First time I've ventured into the garage for two weeks today. On top of all of that I have had the wife suffering random panic attacks that can last some time and the cure seems just as bad as the illness at this stage due to side effects of the meds. Been a juggling act with family to make sure she wasn't left home alone for a whole day.
Just a simple bit of machining to make a stepped screw to locate the carbs link rod is a struggle. But there's only so much telly you can stare at, have to do something.
Regards
Dave

I did my screw by just holding in a drill chuck and using a file held against it as it rotated. Takes about 5-10 mins to do using a brass screw.

I prefer to keep all my fingers.
I managed to find the jig that I used last time, just screw in, and machine it flush with the jig and leave 1.5mm by 2 dia poking out.
The hard bit seems to be digging out the rock hard felt dust seals and corresponding retainers. Been soaking in duck oil for 2 weeks and no sign of them softening.
At least the bushes didn't get wrecked this time.
The last time I did a set of carbs they came out in one piece, soak/wash in paraffin, dry and they were reusable.
Regards
Dave

Not all of us have a lathe, we make do with what we’ve got. I’ve done about 5 of the screws now in a drill and haven’t even scratched myself.
Which felt washers? The ones on the choke bar or the vacuum adjusters? Can’t recall any on the throttle rod myself but it has been a while since I’ve done one. I make all the felt washers for the carbs btw, in case you end up needing them.
-
Yes the felts, 4 of them are on the rod each one capped off with a small retainer ring..
They are easy enough to make if you have a set of cork borers and a bit of wool felt.
Regards

My best wishes for a happy and healthy 2026 to you all. One of the many great thing of this site is the camaraderie between us all. Yes, sometimes a little disagreement, but thats the same with all family`s, with that said, have a great 2026 and thank you to all who make this site what it is :-)

Best wishes for a great 2026 to everyone. My chemo and radiotherapy finishes on 31st December. I'm looking forward to feeling something like normal again. 🤢

Glad that you are nearly out of the other side Gareth - all the best for getting back to normal. Hope we can meet up again next year if all the ducks line up. Perhaps I can venture south on something classic this time (SOHC/4 preferred) instead of the Maxi Scoot - trouble is, it's so damn convenient.

I'm certainly hoping to organise another get together next year. Maybe early June in the Carrbridge area. 👍🏍
