Title: Rubber coating on cable clips etc
Post by: Laverda Dave on January 26, 2026, 12:59:48 PM
A few of the cable clips on the NC30 have some sort of plastic/rubber covering on them. This is going to get removed during blasting and powder coating.  Previously I have used heat shrink to replace the coating but on some of the brackets I don’t have this option and the bracket is large and split in two. Does anyone know of a suitable product that can be applied and give the same protection, I’m thinking of a liquid rubber type product that will air dry but am unable to find anything.

Have you seen liquid electrical tape?  Cheap enough to try.....  You could also try PlastiDip Liquid..... not sure it is any better, never tried it.  I do remember in the old days finding rubber dip products for dipping tool handles in, etc....

Thanks both for the excellent suggestions.
I'm going to order a can of the plasti dip simply because the YouTube clip makes it appear to be ideal and easy to apply. £14.99 on eBay 👍

Let me know how you get on , looking at the price it must be fairly good stuff but time will tell.

The fact that it is on a sealed can you probably have to use it fairly quickly before it goes off as it looks like a solvent type dip.

Will do Ken although it's going to be a good while before I get around to the luxury of putting the bike back together, I'm still stripping it down!

I use a PVC dip  You dip, let it drain,  then heat in an oven till it cures. You can apply multiple layers if necessary. Trouble is I got it from a rubber/plastic company I worked for a few years back. I will try and investigate though, although the company is long gone.

Another potential, thanks Ash👍
