Title: Rolling Thunder Ride 2026
Post by: Athame57 on April 03, 2026, 06:38:32 PM
I rode all the way from east London to west London and back to central London, a staggering distance for someone of 69!  :o This was to take part in the Rolling Thunder Ride 2026, an ex-forces veteran's rally that is also a protest platform against the treatment of certain Northern Ireland veterans like Soldier F by the current government, I even got to meet the shadow defence secretary in Parliament square. My own regiment, the Royal Green Jackets was quiet well represented too, I met some of them at last years ride and the Ace Cafe at times.
Boy did we make a lot of noise too.  ;D I got interviewed and photographed by a journalist from Reuters, so look out for me! Here's pics.  8)

I agree with Micky, I also share your views I suspect about Soldier F.
The difference between the way the IRA are treated by HMG for past crimes following the GF agreement appears in sharp contrast with the  pursuit of our troops involved in the same conflict.

Meanwhile Gerry Adams has been able to persue civil claims against anyone who dares to say he was a member of the IRA, I have always thought the line between the IRA/Sin Fein was written in invisible ink during the era of the troubles. Anyway nice bike you have BTW to stay on topic.

Moderator might have to delete/edit my post.

Well done George.
A very worthy cause. What is happening with our loyal armed forces under this government and it's ex-human rights lawyers is shameful. Starmer actually took this case on for no fee and highlights why he cannot be trusted to run the country and especially the defence of it.

Well done George.

Nice to have events close to home that you can get involved in.

I think my rear end would be numb after that, but probably well worth it.
Regards
Dave

I thought soldier F was acquitted by the judge although he was scathing about the day. Is there another trial? All wars are have a lot of unsatisfactory events, but there was a truce and basically an amnesty so time to let sleeping dogs. Off to Ireland next moth to see relatives. At least our judges are not political appointments like the US.
Glad that it looks like you had a dry day and good turnout.

On a side note never seen so much army activity as when the sea pilot got our 19,000 ton empty tanker grounded in the Y of the river in belfast 1974/5

....' but there was a truce and basically an amnesty so time to let sleeping dogs'...
Alas, the prime minister has other ideas, in January he moved to open the whole can of worms again. Great day out though....demo's usually are!  ;D
