Title: CB750 K6 Insurance.....£7.00 + admin fee.
Post by: Nurse Julie on May 30, 2026, 03:21:51 PM
Graham has been with Carol Nash for CB750K6 for about 10 years now. He's just had the renewal notice through, this year the cost of insurance is £7.44 plus the CN fee of £35.00, total cost £42.44. That's £10 less than last year. This is a policy that has £0 compulsory and £0 voluntary excess and allows him to ride anyone elses bikes 3rd party only.
As administrator of all insurances in this house, I usually phone up and haggle the price down, I won't bother this year 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I feel cheated as insurance for my CB500 K1 is £55.00 all in.

That does sound very reasonable Julie. You must be a higher risk than Trigger. 😂 My policy was a bit less this year too, can’t compare as I have a multi bike policy.😜

Impressive in how low it is, surprising just how that highlights the administration fee  :)

A friend recently bought a 750 K4 which apparently has been rebuilt (engine rebore etc) by Graham, which he's very impressed with. I've not seen it yet as he's down south from me, but will get to ride it when visiting.

My renewal just came through, £148,  £50 excess, recovery and agreed value.  Have my son on as well but that made little difference when I put him on a couple of years ago.

Regards
Dave

Out of interest Julie, does the 3rd party cover apply only if the vehicle owner has valid insurance cover?
Some years ago the Government inserted this clause on all but trade cover.

Yes Ted, the bike has to be insured by the owner for any other rider to benefit from 3rd party cover.

Slightly confused here.

Just insured my CB1300 from the end of June, getting ready for when I can ride again. I also have the ability to ride any other bike not owned by me. If it's not insured for instance does it matter?

Yes, it does matter. The other persons bike you want to ride under the terms of the policy has to be insured as it shouldn't be on the road anyway if it's not insured.

I don’t remember seeing that condition on my policy. Remember Norwich Unions rider policy, it insured you not the bike. So I presumed it was like that. So if the other bike is insured but not for others riders does that matter?

It's only 3rd part cover, so you aren't insured, not is the bike.

I believe the old Rider Policies are no longer available with the original T&C's.
The clause will be in the small print somewhere. It was introduced to stop uninsured vehicles being released from a Police Type pound by someone other than the uninsured owner.

I know the Norwich Union Riders policy finished in about 1991/92. It caused much angst for me and all my biker friends who used to swap bikes very regularly for fun.

My car policy used to specificaly allow me to collect siezed cars from the ponds but that was removed acfew years ago, i believe due to political pressure and at same time they said that whilst you are covered to drive another vehicle it had to be insured as well, you also had to start declaring registrations on trade policies
