I’m putting my front wheel back together after fitting new bearings but I think the brake disc bolts have been put on incorrectly.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20260707/c6443f330f3c60846152da9db524fbe6.jpg)
I have fitted these nuts as they work with the lock washers (already fitted). However I have looked at pics online which looks like the original nuts don’t use lock washers. Before I had the original nuts which I plan to reuse. Am I correct in thinking no lock washers are meant to be used? The originally nuts have like a flat bottom which wouldn’t allow a lock washer to be bent over to lock. Can anyone help?

Depends on exact year and frame number, early bikes used lock washers later flanged nuts, both fit exactly the same

Are the flanged nuts lock nuts? I just can’t see any locking mechanism on them

Dont think so just torqued to spec

Why is one locktab twisted around? I would take that off and tap it straight.

Had this discussion just recently, F2 and K3, essentially the same bike for different uses, used flanged nuts with no lock washers. 500 and 550f1 used plain nuts with lock washers like pictured. Either or, I’d stay with the lock washers personally. Where’s the bearing retainer btw? Along with the dust seal.

Bearing retainer and seal was removed for fitting new bearings. (It’s the only photo I had).
I’ve refitted now with the original flanged nuts and no lock washers but applied a small amount of loctite and torqued up.

That’s fine. Either will do and it’s in keeping with the original method used on that model.
