Hello all. I'm currently messing about with a cb550 f1 in the depth of the garage and thinking of making a cafe racer. I've been looking at pictures online of other projects and getting some great ideas for my project but I,m not sure how the MOT process will limit my build. I would like to remove all the indicators front and rear just leaving headlight and rear light with brake light. Would this pass an MOT and is it road legal?

Yes.I'm doing exactly the same.
I've spoken to a mot station and you do not require indicators but you do require the other lights unless it's on a day mot.

Excellent news, thanks for the help.

You will have to remove your indicator switches from your bars aswell if yo have switches you have to have working indys !!!!
I've gone down the route of doing away with my original switches and going for a simple small switch with just horn kill switch hi lo lights that's it no switches on the left at all !!!!
This really tidys up the bars if you want the minimal look
Cheers

Switch can stay if you are using the dip/horn part of it but indicator stems must go
-
my brother in law is an mot tester and he says as long as there are no indicator fittings present ( lights & stems )it will pass the switch can stay as bryanj says
-
That will make it a little easier and cheaper on the wallet. Thanks

I still have the switch but with a bit of black insulation tape over the L/R to show it is not in use. It has passed the last 20 MOTs like that.

Go to:-

And you can read the testers manual and what MUST fail
