Dear god! I've got 2/3 of my bikes on the road!
Just spent 8 days on my '750 K2 doing a full overhaul on the wheels (hubs, bearings, sprocket, spokes / rims) ... plus ALL those little jobs about the bike that just needed sorting. Relaced the wheels myself, & thanks to Oddjob balanced them too using old spoke weights. Alas, it is at the point that I cannot now think of any more work it needs; not concours... but near enough.
So... out on it... lovely... SO smooth after a week of the 'Guzzi. Stopped a couple of times... and on each a bloke my age appeared.. just to talk / ask questions. What a buzz... this 42 year old mint machine, almost as it was on leaving the Honda agents in '72.
The big sobering realisation tho' are the brakes.... (after the twin Brembos)... which are simply not upto modern standards. Ayeee, lots & lots of squeezing: & the old girls thinks... "can I be bothered to stop?" LOVE her...
-
Lobo there better if there not concourse if it was mint you would be to scared to use it.Iv been commuting on mine for a couple of weeks and I find it takes me hours to go anywhere on these old girls as people just appear out of nowhere.Thumbs up and waves all the way to work and back Bloody brilliant you just don't get that on modern machines.
When I used my dads Triumph Trophy the other day I nearly went over the bars as I pulled the brakes as hard as could forgetting what I was riding .

Lobo that looks lovely. Well done mate, well worth the effort imho. Love the colour as well...
-
hi ,Lobo,I see your in Hampshire,

http://www.calnebikemeet.com/
as for next wednesday at Bretforton,I am doing odds and sods like Lobo just did, hopefully ready for the week after,
ride out and spread the word, have fun,and in the words of Hill St Blues ;- Lets be careful out there !!!!!
-
Thanks guys.. just need the '400F sorted (tank + wheels)... & I'll be a happy, but very bored man.
John.. would like nothing more than to attend one of the meets... but I work abroad & sadly about to disappear off again for a long while. Am SO bloody grateful for the weather the past couple of weeks: idyllic, working on the Hondas through the days, and then out on the Guzzi for an hour each evening.
The missus in despair, and tripped off to Yorkshire to catch up with old mates. Can life get any better....
-
I had a look for your bikes at The Fleece last night but couldn't find them. There were about 200 again!. The little 400 got a lot of attention. One bloke even had to give it a pat ;D.
-
I hope the refurb will be finished in time for a trip to Lower Lydbrook,
hope to see you there
