Grrr . was tootling down to Bryan's neck of the wood on Friday for a long weekend when I realized the missus had booked accommodation right near Newent where 'Bob-The-Seat' lives ... could have dropped my 250 seat off to him but didn't realize till too late !! Stayed at a lodge in the Newent Golf Club BTW (no I don't play golf!) really nice people great accommodation & breakfast and I reckon pretty safe place to leave your bike overnight if you stayed there (unfortunately in car this time). Didn't go there this visit but any scooter fans among you (don't all shout at me at once :-[) can go to the 'dodgy' Littledean Jail Museum of Horrors not too far from there as he has a Quadrophenia exhibition. Discovered Ledbury this time, what a brilliant little place that is. Us 'D's evidently hail from Kings Stanley / Eastington Glos. God knows why they moved to East Yorks.
Hands up if you own or ever owned a 'P*ff Chariot' scooter BTW :)
Cheers ... AshD

Hi Ash yeah I've had 5 scooters in my youth back in the late 70's ;), 2 lambretta's and 3 vespa's wish I had 'em now they would be worth a mint ;)
cheers Mick.

Thing is you are now seeing scooters on the road everywhere but hardly any classic bikes ... well near me anyway.
Only experience I had with scooters was a BSA Sunbeam which had a 250cc 4 stroke engine .. it belonged to my older brother when I was a kid.

I live 20 mls northwest of Newent, and regulary go to Glos via it,
the local council have put speed limits of 40-50mph on what used to be main roads
so,allthough the roads are fun,be careful of the camera vans.
-
Nearest I got to a scooter is the Honda c50/70 and 90, lost count of how manyvi have owned

First bike was a lambretta in 1971, sprayed it orange and black with road runner stencils on the side WOW.
Sold it to a shop in Eltham, they said it was bent and gave me £20,
that was part deposit for my first real bike a new CB175
Still looking for it ,its on the road somewhere DKL54K
Rich
Keep looking mates £75 reward for info

Yes there was a little 'museumy' place down an ancient side-street and it had the history and demise of the jam making factory in Ledbury.

Re: Quadrophenia exhibition .. Seems Sting was really a biker .. evidently he rebuilt the engine on this one!
BTW a guy I work with was an apprentice at the NEL in East Kilbride in the 70's and used to get a lift to work on the back of a BSA C15 ridden by Midge Ure, a fellow apprentice. On leaving to pursue a musical career the foreman told him to go away and reconsider as he was throwing away a good career in engineering.
