A note of success: today, after finally figuring out where my electrics were going wrong, the bike came back to life! A few kicks, a cough, sputter, and life again after being parked in a shed for 13 years! Now it starts first kick, I'm amazed!
Having never owned a bike, and having bought this as a non runner, this is one of the most satisfying moments I've had in a very long time.
Thanks to everyone who has helped up to this point, I couldn't have done it alone!

Feels good dont it?

Indeed it does. Thanks for the wiring tip Bitsa!

Nice one Mr T. One of the absolute best feelings is bringing one of these old Hondas back to life after a slumber...
-
Great stuff, I love that feeling. Just to know it runs. After that the rest is so much more encouraging.
-
Your welcome MrT glad to be of help
Cheers

Definitely not forgotten. I just wanted to know it'd run before really tearing in and getting it up to the task of being a safe and reliable runner.

Good effort Mr T!!!

Video or we don't believe you ;)
Great news. Heart and soul is what you're giving it. Your SOHC bike is rewarding you in return

As you wish. :) I had enough forethought to set up the camera!

Fantastic!
I remember those days.

Great sound. You don't need to be so violent on the kick start ;)

Nice one well done

When I was young(er), the test was whether you could "kick" it over by hand...
:D

I'll have to try that next time it's together. As if is, I spent last night stripping it all back, getting ready to remove the engine and start prepping the frame.(http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/12/11f967c384243464d4058b25267f5b72.jpg)

The easiest way to get that out the frame is to remove the sump, oil filter and lay it on something soft on its side.

Should I pull the forks first?
-
Trig do you have to lay it on its right side like the 750 if so don't forget to remove the points cover if its any good

From the looks of it, most of the bolts will have to pull out from the right, so I think it'll have to be on the left. Don't know if this is typical or just the way the P.O. assembled it.
-
Definitely has to come out of the right side of the frame, the engine bracketts only let it out that side. Note the bracket that holds the cluch cable on top right of gearbox, it comes off, on the left that long bolt goes through the frame so it will not fit through from that side.

Thanks for the tip Matthew, would have spent am age trying to pull it out the left side.

Yep, folks off. The less you have, then the lighter it is to lift the frame from the engine.
