Hi all - any advice when stripping down the LH switch gear? Any horrors to look out for?
Cheers

All the little bits are important ;)

I had to strip mine down recently, loads of corrosion on the contact surfaces and the return spring was broken, it's all straightforward to fix though, once you have separated the two halves of the casing and taken the plastic horn button off (held by a small screw on the underside of the button), you can lift the switch out, it has a thin (tuffnel?) cover, gently pry it off then you can take out the moving part of the horn switch and clean up the contact faces, I replaced the broken spring with one from a ballpoint pen, then you can glue the switch cover back on with araldite or similar, then reassemble the cases and job done, nothing in there to worry about.

I had to have mine apart recently on my 400/4 and I understand it is the same as the 750. Be careful of the wires (3 in my case)going on to the switch where the springs are . They are soldered on and are a bu**ger to re solder if they come apart or snap off, as my horn wire did ::) ::) ::) ::)
Have fun ;D ;D ;D

Use grease to hold the ball bearings and springs in place when reassembling

Here ya go Jim... maybe not a K7 but invaluable nonetheless I hope.

wow...thats some post. I wonder if he did the same write up for the left hand switch gear?

I have asked him.

PS: The photos in that post are awesome - it's very difficult to take good detailed shots of small parts like that.

Indeedy... a stunning post for all the right reasons...
Point is Jim, you've now a 'flavour' of how it all is... the LH switch gear will be, as they say in Asia where I work, "same same, but different"
Kinda sums it up nicely.
Simon.

What an excellent post.
Will be very useful when I get to my 350's very tired looking RH/switch gear.
Bought another one to make one good one.

Update - numb nuts didn't have the black power in wire connected. Horn and Pass button functioning perfectly now :)
As in the technology industry, 90% of problems are user error!

As an IT "professional", all I can say is...
"only 90%?"
