Title: New from Germany
Post by: Sgt.Pinback on January 04, 2016, 11:42:57 AM
Hi,
I am 55, live near Stuttgart (Germany) and have HONDA and Kawasaki bikes since 1978.
Actually, I own two CB750 (KO), a Kawasaki z1-R and a Kawasaki ZRX1200R.

Currently do a soft restauration on a CB750 KO that's been sitting in a farmers barn since 1977 and try to bring her back into live.

Oh, and my name is Uli

Thanks for the welcome!

Yes, I'm in the sohc4.net, followed the trace of UKpete and found my way to this forum here.

Started the documentation of my cleaning and soft restoration on the bluegreen KO there, but could do this here as well if welcomed.

Here are the kawas. The Z1-R is a typical garage queen that went from collector to collector over the last decades. So only 28 tkm.
Its my second Z1-R, I had one in the 80th and 90th, sold that and badly regretted that soon. I was happy to find this one a few years ago.

The zrx is registerred and driven regularly. In fact, this is my 3. zrx. Good bikes.

I have not given up on my ko it took a back seat when I got a sandcast but i temporary lost interest last year and have been concentrating on my social life and riding the bikes I have on the road
I also like the Z1R, and have one myself mine is in a rickman frame its quite a coolbike to be out and about on
It's good to see you over here and I hope you like our UK forum and decide to hang around
Pete

Thanks Ashimoto, I noticed you are one of the KO - specialists here. Will need your knowledge soon.

Here is the red 18.9xx KO.
A German version, bought that a few years ago. The one and only PO died at the age of 80. Got it with all the original paperwork.

Has about 244.000 km and is not restored. Seat is a new Yamiya, but I have the original one

Agree. But I like them and the small tail light as well.
At least makes the bikes unique and, BTW, rare.

As far as I know, Honda Germany sold in total only 503 CB750 in the years 1969/1970 (KO and K1 together).
I don't know the KO-only figure.
Plus some bikes in Netherlands. I assume there had been 200-300 KO sold in this spec.

Are there any British specific KO parts? At first spot, I see a black tail light bracket and the front fender.

Can you still use those front number plates? That looks really groovy!

IIRC are there some sign painters offering, don't think the German TUV would be very keen about pedestrian-slicers installed though...  ;)

Rarest part is the the rear Fender Mudguard ..took me 7 years of hunting to find a NOS one (bidding war on eBay for it  :( ) .. Oval rear lamp used on other Honda's is the UK etc & Japan,  early CB250K, CD175, C50 step-through etc. Front fender same as USA.

Yes if it's before a certain date.. I think 1973 but unsure on exact details but someone is bound to know.

It's this but the UK version with 4-hole rear lamp was discontinued years ago. Rocking Horse Poo .. please don't ask me what that is  ;D

hi again, my bike is vin 1009574 and does have wrinkle tank and recessed ignition, its virtually identical to a late vin sandcast other than the crank cases

Thanks, that explains the parts on your bike.

Does anybody know up to which VIN the recessed ignition switch was used on CB750 KO ?

Same with wrinkle tank. Here I doubt, if there is a cutoff VIN.
My 18.xxx KO has a wrinkle tank but the 16.xxx KO has not. Both are genuine, pretty sure about that.

Hi and welcome buddy. On the note of the rear fender I'll be getting shot of mine as soon as I start the rebuild its from my 78 F2 but it looks the same.

That UK press bike is now for sale at Bonhams.

Just found that in the current classic motorcycle mechanics.
