Here is what I could buy, my first SC:
SC with low VIN 2000, matching numbers, restoration basis, US import
What I can see: wrong - front fender, - ignition switch, - horn, - alternator cover, - exhaust pipes, - seat, 2-hole airbox missing, no "28" carbs
Everything else needs a restauration.
What is it worth? 5 - 10, 10 - 15, 15 - 20 k€ given engine is free?
-
Going on what they are fetching in uk it has to be around the 10-15 mark, probably cost at least another 5 to restore, its worth what ever you want to pay really, bearing in mind though you said in another post restored ones dont really sell well in germany

As Pete said ,
It depends how much you really want it .
Is there a price on it already ?
-
I could stretch to £5K at a push ;)

Actually, I don´t realy "need" it. Being a little tyred and having not yet finished the current project.
But on the other hand I can´t see a project sandcast in Europe so that´s a chance to restore a sandcast by myself.
And there must be a project after the project.
We are discussing in the 10 - 15 k Euro range.
The good thing is, that I have most of the missing parts: new HM300, new red sponge Yamiya KO seat, double cut frnot fender, recessed ignition switch, rear KO chain sprocket, a pair of newly chromed rims, a new painted ruby red paint set (by Menno, still in the box).
Guys, I need some motivation!!
Lots of "8" bolts,
And an answer to some anorak questions:
- Looking a the frame angle, is this correct SC?
- valve cover (rev-counter gearbox) : correct SC?
-
Uli, I think you really need to ask the seller to remove the tank & seat and take some better, higher resolution photos for you. It's a significant investment so you need to know exactly what you're getting into IMHO.
-
As James says with the pictures, and as for motivation and buying do what your heart says, i did and i was so glad

Got a few more pics.
Please check the numbers "anorakly". Looking odd?
-
Frame Number. Odd?
-
Wrinkle tank, almost toast ........ Menno !???

Oh, and most important:
My wife gave me OK

Bonus is a nice airbox.
Until which VIN did thy had the 2- hole airbox?
-
Uli, i dont like the look of the 1 and the 3 digit on the vin
Here is mine for reference to the fonts

Thanks Pete.
I thought the "B" is odd, looks different on my diecast.
But same on yours.
The "9" looks special too, but again same on yours.
Pete, when you enlarge my pic and draw it under yours, you see "1", "3" "5" "0" are the same.

Forgot to say, I have a set of "28" carbs with 5mm throttle cable that cry to be used.
-
Hmm could be an interesting project Uli. Certainly looks all there...
-
If you are in it for profit/investment then get the sandcast. Otherwise your K0 is almost the same bike. Why not buy the rare 500K0 that Freddiethefatfrog has?
-
What I don't like is the numbers do not appear to be in a straight line which is unusual for Honda BUT i have had no dealings with sancasts so perhaps they are different
-
Now I´m stuck....
Are there more VIN pics in the net? (Have to come to a conclution today).
Edit:
Taking a ruler on your pic....
What I (hope to) see: CB750-100 is strikt in-line, numbers thereafter differ slightly.
-
Answering my question concerning the gusset, it seems to be a correct SC frame
-
Found that one on sandcast.only
Again, CB750-100 strict inline, rest slightly different (?)
-
Fixed it. :)
-
Yes gusset is correct Uli,and the early honda vins and engine numbers are always a bit off line, what is odd about your vin is the 1 and 3 look a bit odd, if you look at the first 1 it is correct the second one is a different font
the 3 bottom half is correct but the top half of the 3 is not complete or the right shape, thing is if you have the correct paperwork, once the frame is painted it will be almost unnoticeable

Taking here out of a shelter full of bikes & parts
-
Nice one Uli :) :) I reckon with those great parts you have already, you will have a lovely example there.

Was that stashed on a mezzanine floor
-
Thanks guys.
Pete, yes one of several mezzanine floors.
My mate, the one who sells the Z1000, discovered a K1 and rescued it.
