thanks bryanj,i had already tried them, but they said all their paint was now water based [so will that still have cyanide in it ?] the painter i have lined up to do the job for me said that water based paints were not as good as straightforward 2pack which he has always used and he would prefer me to give him a modern day equivelent ! i have approached a couple of other paintshops and they have said the same thing! thanks garry

as the original honda paint codes dont seem to relate to a specific colour mix, has anybody had any planet blue paintwork matched up by a body shop and if so, do you know what modern day colour they used ? ie, is there a vauxhall or a ford colour etc that is readily available that i could use to do a full paintjob ? thanks garry

can any body tell me if the tank decal stripes and the warning stickers on 1970s hondas were laquered over as original from the factory. or is this just something that has become the thing to do as bikes have been getting restored over the years ? thanks garry.

thanks tom, yes i fitted new bulbs all round, so i will give everything another connection check and clean and perhaps try running a new earth from both of the nearside indicators just incase that is disrupting current flow. cheers garry

thanks guys . i think i will leave it disconected then . one other thing though, even though i have tried changing the flasher unit from a previous bike, the nearside indicators flash at a slower rate than the off side ! any ideas ? cheers garry.

hi guys , can someone give me a bit of advice on the correct procedure when converting from original loose ball bearings to tapered races ? i bought a kit which contained 2 sets of bearings and 2 dust seals . after removing the old races and inserting the new, i fitted the larger lipped seal onto the fork stem followed by the lower bearing and lifted up through the frame. it was at this point that i realised that the upper race even though bedded in , stood proud of the headstock and once the top bearing was fitted along with the top seal it just didnt look right ! it left the domed screw cap not siiting flush with the frame . i realise i could ditch this seal but it still wouldnt leave the domed cap fitting as snug as before! its the height of the upper race thats the problem . i have since read that this is a caracteristic of upgrading to tapered bearings and you just live with it . the trouble is that now the top yoke sits a little higher than it should it leaves the chrome headlight brackets loose . is there a fix ? what have you guys done ? also should there be a spacer washer under the bottom dust seal and bearing ? thanks for reading and by the way its a 1974 cb 750k4 garry

many thanks guys.it sounds like as the clip on my needle is already set 1 groove lower than bitsas {thus it will be sitting higher and allowing a slightly richer mixture} i will leave it at that for now as suggested. i had to dismantle the carbs, due to the throttle bar that they are connected to was seized in its bushes ! so i am going to have to set them up from scratch when i reasemble . any advice or tips on getting a bench setting to start off with would be greatly appreaciated . regards garry

thanks bitsa, yeah standard airbox . can anyone tell me if by having the clip 1 groove lower on my setup will make things run a little richer or will it lean things out. ?

can anyone tell me if the carb jets and settings on my newly imported cb750 k4 will be ok for use here in the uk ? the carbs are kehlien 657b wih 110main and 40slow jets with the clip set in the 4th groove down. the bike has come from the state of ohio {not a emmission phobic state like california !}, so im thinking that this, plus the fact that the climate there is not too diferent from ours i should be okay .the bike will only get occasional use in the summer months, so as long as i wont be doing any piston damage etc i am willing to compromise on a bit of performance etc if need be . thanks for reading garry
